Mass media and information giant Thomson Reuters is establishing a laboratory at Waterloo's Communitech Hub to develop hardware and software for managing increasingly large and diverse amounts of data. Set for an official launch October 13th, Thomson Reuters Lab – Waterloo Region will focus on both external partnerships and internal innovation. Thomson Reuters possess vast financial, legal and government data sets that require new ways to extract insight and value. The Waterloo lab also plans to partner with start-ups to explore new business opportunities and will collaborate with the Univ of Waterloo on research projects. Lab director Brian Zubert, is also a Communitech executive in residence, former director of developer relations at Blackberry and co-founder of Score More Baseball, an app that uses the "Moneyball" approach to scoring baseball games….
