The Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario) has launched a new Technology Development Program (TDP) that will provide up to $20-million over four years to projects that develop globally competitive, market-ready technologies. Funding must be matched by private sector or other non-governmental support and post-secondary and not-for-profit organizations are eligible to receive funding. The TDP is intended to strengthen and diversify the economy of southern Ontario by focusing on the gap between R&D and commercialization and aiming at innovative, breakthrough technologies that are one to seven years from market. Projects will be accepted on an ongoing basis and, once approved, must be completed by March 31/14.
