Ontario awards L-3 WESCAM $17.5 million

The Government of Ontario has awarded L-3 WESCAM a grant of $17.5 million for the development of airborne imaging systems for use in the aerospace sector. The R&D funding will allow the Burlington ON-based company to develop intelligence, reconnaissance and surveillance systems and create 375 new jobs over five years in addition to maintaining its current workforce of 555. The grant is part of the province's new Open Ontario Plan that was launched in Budget 2010 and provides $310 million annually through the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade ….
