Dr John Holdren has been appointed science advisor to president-elect Barak Obama. An acknowledged expert in global environmental change, energy technologies and policies, nuclear proliferation, and S&T policy, Holdren is currently director of the Woods Hole Research Centre whose logo is "Protecting the integrity of the global environment". He will head up the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), joining a policy team that now includes Nobel Prize-winning physicist Dr Steve Chu (Secretary of Energy) and Carol Browner (Assistant to the President for Energy and Climate Change).
