Capital Health inks $70-million deal with Philips

In what is billed as a new approach to equipment acquisition, Capital Health of Edmonton and Royal Philips Electronics, Holland, have reached a $70-million deal for the purchase of diagnostic equipment. The deal allows for purchase in key areas with two, one-year extension options. The equipment will be used in the Edmonton area’s implementation of the Picture Archival Communication System, used for the storage of digital diagnostic images. The deal is the largest Philips has ever landed in Canada and is seen as an opportunity to further its product research by working with regional physicians and researchers.
