UK funds major infrastructure projects

The UK government has allotted Cdn $790 million from its Large Facilities Capital Fund to nine large-scale research projects including $195 million to complete the last 10 beamlines on its Diamond Light Source synchrotron. Other projects which received funding include redevelopment of the Laboratory of Molecular Biology at Cambridge Univ ($134 million), a next-generation super computer ($130 million) and a new computational sciences centre at the Daresbury Science and Innovation Campus ($100 million)....
