Ontario invests $7.5 million in biofuels research

The Government of Ontario is providing $7.5 million to two biofuels projects to support the new Bioproducts Initiative at the Univ of Western Ontario (UWO). UWO's new Institute for Chemicals and Fuels from Alternative Resources will receive $5 million to turn agricultural byproducts into fuel and chemicals such as organic insecticides, pesticides and fertilizers. The remaining funds go to a demonstration facility at Stanton Farms to generate energy from manure and waste water. The project is a collaboration between UWO, Univ of Guelph and Univ of Waterloo….
