Trojan Technologies Inc has initiated a $31.2-million R&D project to advance its ultraviolet water purification technologies for its UV drinking water treatment line of products. The project — assisted by $9.36 million from Technology Partnerships Canada — will improve energy efficiency of key components and processes for systems geared towards the municipal drinking water market. UV systems are being examined to replace traditional chlorination processes, which are often inadequate in controlling certain pathogens.
