Xantrex Technologies Inc has received $7.2 million from Technology Partnerships Canada to launch a $24-million R&D project into technologies that make power generated from alternative sources compatible with traditional sources. The project will see the development of advanced power electronics that will control amplitude, frequency and current flow, allowing for clean, renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power to be incorporated into the electrical grid. It is also expected to make these so-called green energy sources more competitive with sources such as fossil fuels and reduce overall greenhouse gas emissions. Xantrex is located in Burnaby BC....
