The Sustainable Forest Management Network (SFMN) is dedicating $3 million over two years towards new research projects that advance past research and address emerging areas identified by its partners. The 17 projects involve 16 researchers from 10 universities and leverage considerable resources from provincial governments, industry and aboriginal and non-governmental organizations. The awards range between $120,000 and $265,000 and fund research in the assessment of forest assets, the implications of climate change for water resources, forests and forestry and economic and conservation goals for boreal forest regions.
