RSC to develop strategic and financial plans

The Royal Society of Canada (RSC) is meeting in June to begin the process of developing a comprehensive strategic plan and five-year financial plan to establish a solid base for continuing and expanding operations. The June 13 leadership retreat is aiming to shore up finances to enhance its programs, continue expert panel assessments and "play a leadership role in promoting a culture of knowledge among the Canadian public". The RSC recently completed an expert panel assessment on the Environmental and Health Impacts of Canada's Oil Sands Industry and has another three underway to examine Early Childhood Development, End-of-Life Decision Making and Sustaining Canada's Marine Biodiversity: Responding to the Challenges Posed by Climate Change, Fisheries, and Aquaculture. The RSC is also preparing strategies for communications, potential projects for next cycle of expert panel assessments and an audit of its relationships with sister national academies....
