Ontario invests in SNO expansion


The Ontario government is investing nearly $9 million to expand the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory (SNO). The funding will allow SNO to build a large cryopit — a large cavern for storing low-temperature liquids and gases required for the next stage of experimentation. Funding comes from the Ontario Research Fund ($5.6 million) and the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund ($3.13 million). The expansion means that SNO will remain the largest, deepest and cleanest facility in the world for conducting astroparticle physics....
