Jean Belzile has been appointed assistant DM for research, innovation, science and society at Quebec's Ministry of Economic Development, Innovation and Export Trade (MEDIE). Belzile replaces Dr Geneviève Tanguay, who stepped down last year to join the Univ of Montreal as VP research, creation and innovation (R$, November 29/11). He will be working with a new committee to be appointed by MEDIE minister Sam Hamad on the next iteration of Quebec's Research and Innovation Strategy. Prior to joining the ministry, Belzile was a professor and director of industry relations at École de technologie supérieure and CTO at ISR Technologies, co-located at ETS. He holds a PhD in telecommunications from the Univ of Montreal - Ecole polytechnique de Montréal, a BSc in computer science from the Univ of New Brunswick and a computer science degree from the Univ of Moncton….
