Genome Canada signs second international pact

Genome Canada has signed a scientific cooperation agreement with the Genome Spain Foundation, the second such agreement in less than one year. The initial three-year agreement is intended to increase cooperation in the broad field of genomics including scientific and industrial exchanges of academics and biotechnology, pharmaceutical and venture capital firms. A longer-term objective is to identify and initiate joint, large-scale research projects. The Genome Spain Foundation was only formed last month and is closely modelled on Genome Canada. The Canada-Spain pact mirrors an agreement reached between Genome Canada and Sweden’s Karolinska Institutet Center for Genomics and Bioinformatitcs last summer (R$, July 16/01)....
