Gennum Corp has reported an increase in R&D spending of nearly 20% for FY00 ended November 20, according to year-end results released last week. The Burlington ON-based developer of silicon integrated circuits and modules and thin film hybrid circuits has R&D expenditures of $18 million (16.9% of sales), up from $15 million the year before. The increase was attributed to the hiring of new design engineers and investment in design tools and costs related to the prototyping of new products.
