Gary Tanner has been appointed president and CEO of Zarlink Semiconductor, replacing Kirk Mandy. Tanner joined Zarlink in 2007 when the Ottawa-based firm acquired Legerity, Austin TX, where he held the positions of senior VP worldwide operations and chief operating officer. He has more than 35 years of experience in the semiconductor industry with Legerity, Intel Corp, National Semiconductor, Texas Instruments and NCR. Tanner will maintain a residence in Austin and have office in Austin and Kanata. Mandy will remain as a consultant at Zarlink for one year. He joined Mitel Corp in 1984 and held a variety of senior positions including VP and GM of its semiconductor division in 1992 and head of business communications systems. Mandy served as CEO of Mitel Corp from 1998 to 2001 when Zarlink was formed. He returned to the CEO position in 2005 to the present….
