DRDC awards $7-million contract to Raytheon Canada

Raytheon Canada has won a $7-million contract from Defence Research and Development Canada to build and install a next-generation high frequency surface wave radar system for use by the Canadian Navy. The contract is part of DRDC's larger Persistent Active Surveillance of the Exclusive Economic Zone project which began in 2007. The Raytheon-built system will allow over-the-horizon detection of vessels through the transmission and reception of electromagnetic waves that travel along the curved surface of the ocean. Trials will be conducted at Hartlen Point NS....
