Dr Victor Dzau has been named the winner of the 2011 Henry G Friesen International Prize in Health Research. The $35,000 prize was awarded to Dzau for his work as a pioneering translational research scientist and other activities. He is currently the James B Duke professor of medicine at Duke Univ and president and CEO of the Duke University Health System. Dzau graduated from McGill Univ with a BsC and MD before embarking on his illustrious US career, highlighted by research into the renin-angiotensin system which underlies various heart and blood vessel diseases ranging from hypertension to heart failure.....

Pfizer Canada has announced its fourth annual neuropathic pain research award winners. They are: Dr Brady Kerr, Univ of Alberta; Dr Daniel Marsh, Dalhousie Univ; Dr Alfredo Ribeiro-da-Silva, McGill Univ; Dr Petra Schweinhardt, McGill Univ; and, Dr Peter Smith, Univ of Alberta. The awards are intended to support independent neuropathic pain research and present new approaches
