Dr Saiedeh Razavi has been selected to become the inaugural chair in heavy construction at McMaster Univ, the first such position of its kind in Canada. The university is providing $1.3 million, which will be matched by 13 regional construction organizations. Currently a postdoctoral fellow at Concordia Univ, Razavi joins McMaster July 1st and will also hold an academic appointment in the department of civil engineering with teaching responsibilities at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Her expertise lies in large-scale industrial construction projects and sensing and information technology for construction and infrastructure management, logistics and transportation.
