Dr Raymond Rajotte has been appointed to the governing council of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research for a three-year term. Rajotte holds several positions at the Univ of Alberta, including scientific director of the Alberta Diabetes Institute, professor of surgery and medicine and director and founder of the Islet Transplantation Group. He holds a PhD in biomedical engineering from the Univ of Alberta and is best known for developing the Edmonton Protocol — the transplantation of donor islets in patients suffering from type 1 diabetes, eliminating the need for daily insulin shots….
