Dr Elizabeth Cannon has been appointed interim chair of the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), replacing Dr Will Leggett who stepped down from the position after three years (R$, December 22/06). Cannon is dean of the Schulich School of Engineering at the Univ of Calgary and a CFI board member. Her research and teaching are in the area of satellite-based navigation and location systems for land, air, and marine applications and she is a co-inventor of several software programs licensed world-wide.
