Dr David Dolphin has been appointed CEO of the BC Innovation Council (BCIC), replacing interim head Cindy Lum who remains as COO. Dolphin is a highly regarded researcher and company executive best known as the creator of Visudyne, the blockbuster drug commercialized by Quadra Logic Technologies Inc (QLT) for which he served as VP technology development. A professor of chemistry at the Univ of British Columbia, he also holds the NSERC-QLT Inc Industrial Chair in Photodynamic Technologies at UBC and was previously its acting VP research and acting dean of science. He joins BCIC as the organization prepares to expand after enduring years of budget cuts at the Science Council of BC.
