Douglas Beatty has been appointed as the new CFO of Nortel Networks Corp and Nortel Networks Lt, its principal operating subsidiary, effective July 17. He takes up the position three years after returning to Nortel as its controller. Beatty first joined Nortel in 1985 and served in a variety of senior financial positions until 1995, when he left to join Sprint Canada Inc as its VP finance. Beatty has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Univ of Toronto and is a chartered accountant. He replaces Frank Dunn, Nortel’s president and CEO who served as interim CFO following the abrupt departure of Terry Hungle. Hungle was sacked shortly after his promotion from VP finance and business development - Americas.
