CANARIE says more than 50 companies are now utilizing its Digital Accelerator for Innovation and Research (DAIR) testbed. DAIR offers a free, cloud-based product development environment for companies to test, prototype and demonstrate new products and services. The cloud-based computing and storage resources are now a permanent service, created by hiving off a portion of CANARIE's research network for commercial use without interfering with the networking activities of academic researchers. The permanent service is delivered in conjunction with a consortium that includes Compute Canada, Alberta-based Cybera, Univ of Sherbrooke, Univ of Alberta and Hydro-Québec.
