CANARIE holds new media competition

CANARIE Inc has issued a call for proposals for new media projects that focus on areas such as grid computing and demonstrate a high degree of collaboration. The competition is funded by $1 million from the Department of Canadian Heritage and is an extension of Heritage’s Applied Research in Interactive Media (ARIM) program which is administered by CANARIE. The funding will flow through the department’s Canadian Culture Online program which is aimed at developing and ensuring access to digital content on both official languages. The CANARIE competition is the first since the expiration of its applications development programs at the end of the last FY. The agency develops and operates the high-performance network for the research community and also funds applications development. Funding for CANARIE’s networking activities is funded separately through Industry Canada and is ongoing….
