Canada and Taiwan renew science MOU

The National Research Council (NRC) has renewed its memorandum of understanding with Taiwan's National Science Council (NSC). The new five-year MOU builds upon 15 years of bilateral cooperation and features a more focused approach to research collaborations and includes projects in the areas of vaccines and biologics with a stronger emphasis on commercialization and products to market. One joint project on vaccines and biopharmaceuticals for combating hospital-acquired infections is expected to result in a preventative vaccine within three years, with clinical trials commencing within five years. The MOU was signed in Ottawa by NRC president John McDougall and NSC minister Dr Cyrus Chu….
