The Univ of Victoria has received $671,500 from Western Economic Diversification to conduct R&D on unmanned air vehicles (UAV) at its new Centre for Aerospace Research. UVic researchers intend to produce a family of airframe prototypes from the ground up through conceptualization and design to manufacture. The prototypes can be customized for research and commercial purposes including search and rescue, firefighting, aerial mapping and crop monitoring.
