Bob Crow is leaving the Information Technology Association of Canada (ITAC) to join Research in Motion Ltd (RIM), effective July 9, in the newly created position of director of university and government affairs. His departure ends a relationship with the industry association stretching back to 1988. At RIM, Crow will be responsible for fostering ties to the university and public sectors and he will initially commute from the Toronto area to RIM headquarters in Waterloo ON. He will report to Larry Conlee, COO for engineering and manufacturing. Crow originally joined ITAC on a consulting basis while he was a professor at Ryerson Polytechnic University. By 1991, he was elevated to VP status and worked three days a week while continuing to teach and undertake various administrative duties at Ryerson. He left ITAC in the mid 1990s to continue teaching at Ryerson, taking up the position of executive director of university advancement.
