SSHRC sponsors major new research award

A major new prize has been announced for outstanding research in the social sciences and humanities. The $100,000 SSHRC Gold Medal for Achievement in Research will be presented annually by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council. The first winner will be announced at a gala awards dinner in Ottawa October 16. The five researchers in the running are: literary theorist Linda Hutcheon (Univ of Toronto), philosopher Will Kymlicka (Queen’s Univ), musicologist jean-Jacques Nattiez (Univ of Montreal), political scientist Donald Savoie (Univ of Moncton), and philosopher Charles Taylor (McGill Univ).
