Dr Asimina Arvanitaki

Dr Asimina Arvanitaki has been named the inaugural Stavros Niarchos Foundation Aristarchus Chair in Theoretical physics at the Perimeter Institute. Arvanitaki was selected for her research which focuses on the precision frontier of particle physics (particle physics without the colliders), using high-precision measurements seeking insights into the nature of dark matter and particle interactions. The chair will be funded with $4 million from the Athens-based Stavros Niarchos Foundation, matched by the Perimeter Institute. Her appointment underlines the institute's commitment towards attracting young scientists just entering the profession and entering their peak years of productivity…. The chair is named after Aristarchus, an ancient Greek mathematician who proposed the first-known model placing the sun at the centre of the solar system....
