Alberta Ingenuity increases this year's funding

Alberta Ingenuity has added $4.4 million to its scheduled research investments for 2006-07, bringing the year's total to $21 million. The new funding is aimed at building innovation capacity in three areas of high quality personnel: new faculty awards, student scholarships and industry associates. The latter matches science and engineering masters and PhD graduates with companies planning research projects to enhance their competitive advantage. Alberta Ingenuity has already helped to place 86 researchers in nearly 60 companies and hopes to double placements in the next few years. Alberta Ingenuity invests revenue generated by the Alberta Heritage Foundation for Science and Engineering endowment. ....
