WD provides funds for mass spectrometers at UVic

The Univ of Victoria has the highest concentration of mass spectrometers of any Canadian university following the purchase of two new units with support from Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD). The equipment was purchased for the UVic-Genome BC Proteomics Centre with $663,000 in WD funding, which also includes the cost of a hiring a technician, lab upgrades to accommodate the new equipment, a data storage server and related supplies. The centre has been operational since 1982 and provides protein analytical services on a fee-for-service, cost-recovery finance model….
