U of T Mississauga launches business incubator

The Univ of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) has launched I-CUBE, a campus-linked business accelerator to provide selected entrepreneurs with a five-month opportunity to go from the idea stage for a start-up to the creation of a minimum viable product. Initial backing of $1 million over 10 years comes from the UTM-based Institute for Management and Innovation (IMI), a cross-disciplinary institute for the training of mission-focused managers and future leaders. I-CUBE's first program is Innovation to Commercialization for Entrepreneurs which provides participants with a mentor, potential funding and pitches before a panel of judges. The program is not for credit although courses for credit are being developed. I-CUBE has been developed over the past year by UTM faculty and staff in conjunction with a team of students. It is described as unique as it isn't standalone but complements the efforts of IMI….
