The third and final report derived from Statistics Canada's 2012 Survey of Innovation and Business Strategy shows that long-term business strategy is the main focus of 87.7% of enterprises while 12.2% focus on low price and cost leadership. The survey examines human resource management practices, competition and business strategies, and competition from new competitors in the market. The report shows that firms engaged in waste management and remediation services were most likely to use a systemic process for resolving problems (67%) while those in wholesale trade were least likely (42%). Large firms were far more likely to a use a systemic process (61.5%) compared to medium-sized firms (50.1%) and small firms (37.5%).
