The Canada Science and Technology Museum is getting a $80.5-million upgrade and face lift, much to the dismay of those who have long advocated for a new and larger facility in the national capital. The funding will go towards stabilizing the aging structure — a former bakery warehouse located in a light industrial district in Ottawa's east end — upgrading exhibit space and modernizing the building's facade. The museum has been closed since early September when extensive mould was discovered while its leaking roof was being repaired. It will remain shuttered until 2017 when renovations are complete. The facility is currently able to display only 2% of its holdings.
