SSHRC community social innovation pilot awards $6M

The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council is providing $6 million to 27 research projects at colleges and polytechnics across Canada. The pilot Community and College Social Innovation Fund (CCSIF) is part of SSHRC's Insight funding stream. It will dispense $15 million to support projects with funding of up to $200,000 over one to three years to partner with local community organizations and businesses. Outcomes can take the form of a product, process or program that creates positive results at the community level. Among the biggest recipients is George Brown College, which received $931,000 for four research projects to tackle a diverse set of topics ranging from post-secondary students with disabilities, children's literacy development and victims of torture and political oppression....
