Solar energy powers up GreenStar Network

Canada has its first green-powered Internet network as part of a $2-million project funded by the pilot Green IT program of CANARIE. The solar-powered data centre is part of the GreenStar Network project between CANARIE, CyberaNet (Alberta's high-speed, high-bandwidth network ) and various partners. The Calgary node will draw 220 watts of power from its rooftop installation and the network is expected to extend to the US, Spain, Belgium and Ireland....
