An industrial research chair (IRC) in pest management has been established at Simon Fraser Univ (SFU) and will be held by Dr Gerhard Gries. The IRC is renewable and worth $2.5 million over five years. Funding was provided by a $1.2 million grant from Science and Engineering Research Canada (NSERC) and matched by several firms involved in pest management. Further contributions include $100K in in-kind industry support and $105K from SFU for equipment and lab renovations.
