Seeking New Director

The Univ of Waterloo’s Institute for Quantum Computing is seeking a new director, replacing Dr Raymond Laflamme who is leaving at an unspecified future date. The position is a five-year term with an option for a one-time renewal to provide IQC with leadership, the setting of overall strategic direction, cultivating external relationships and ensuring that the institute delivers against its mandate. A cross appointment at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics is also anticipated. IQC has a staff of 27 faculty members, 37 postdoctoral fellows and an annual budget of $25 million. The IQC was also the recipient of an endowment of more than $100 million, most of which was provided by Mike Lazaridis, former co-founder, president and co-CEO of Blackberry Ltd….
