SADI invests in Toronto-based mobile robotics firm

The Strategic Aerospace and Defence Initiative (SADI) program has awarded $779,000 to Engineering Services Inc (ESI) to conduct R&D on a next generation mobile robotics platform for uses such as reconnaissance in law enforcement, defence and other security sectors. The Toronto-based ESI will collaborate on the project with faculty and graduates from the Univ of Toronto, which will expand the use of robotics and automation to other companies and among its supply chain partners. The award is the sixth SADI has made in the past 12 months for a total investment of slightly under $40 million — far below the $225 million the program receives annually….
