Raytheon Canada Ltd has received $4 million from Technology Partnerships Canada to help finance a $13.7-million R&D project for civilian and military flight safety radar applications. The Waterloo ON-based subsidiary of Raytheon Co will enhance components of its ground-based, primary surveillance radar technology, including the signal data processor, S-band transmitter and L-band transmitter and receiver. The result is expected to result in greater radar power output at lower cost, improved radar picture quality and increased range. The project is expected to help airport authorities meet increasingly stringent security requirements.
