Quebec research program on cancer risk receives $30M

The Cancer Research Society is providing $15 million towards an environmental cancer research and prevention program in Quebec. The government — through the Ministry of Economic Development, Innovation and Export — will match the CRS's contribution, creating a fund of $30 million over five years. The program will be administered by the Fonds de la recherche en santé du Québec, which will provide researchers with grants of $350,000 to $1 million annually. It plans to compile a large body of scientific evidence to demonstrate the impact of environmental factors on the risk of cancer development.
