Defence R&D Canada (DRDC) has developed a pilot project that provides access for Canadian university researchers to the US Multidisciplinary University Research Initiative (MURI). Funding for Canadian participation will be mostly provided by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. MURI projects are typically worth about $1 million annually and five years in duration. Canadian participation will likely be about 25% that amount. For its part DRDC has developed the program and accompanying website and will provide advice to prospective researchers. MURI is a multi-agency program of the US Department of Defense.
