An international trade mission to China led by Ontario premier Kathleen Wynne has netted 11 S&T and clean tech agreements valued at $358 million and 11 investments by Chinese firms in Ontario companies worth $966 million. A highlight of the mission last November was an announcement by Huawei Technologies Co Ltd. of a $210-million, five-year investment in the province. The mission was a key element of the province's Going Global Trade Strategy. Wynne was joined on the mission by Dr Reza Moridi, minister of Research and Innovation. Other deals concluded in conjunction with the Ministry of Science and Technology of China are: a research partnership between McMaster Univ and Jiangsu Delin Environmental Protection Technology Co; an Ontario subsidiary set up by Beijing Stargen Power Systems Ltd to commercialize clean power systems for transportation; and, a decision by D&T Photonics (a Univ of Ottawa spinoff) to expand its operations in Nanjing....
