The National Research Council's Plant Biotechnology Institute (PBI) in Saskatoon is partnering on three canola research projects with the Netherland's Centre for BioSystems Genomics (CBSG). The collaboration is a first between the two organizations and will focus on studying the genetics of lipid metabolism in canola to improve nutritional value, examine seed quality and vigour to improve crop yield and quality, and examine signaling pathways involved in the formation of haploid embryos to develop new varieties with a shorter time-to-market. CBSG is a consortium of Dutch and international companies carrying out plant genomics research covering the entire production chain from pre-breeders to processors….
