Memorial gains new mechatronics capability

Memorial Univ will soon be home to a new Mechatronic Development and Prototyping Facility funded by The Boeing Co and the Research and Development Corp of Newfoundland and Labrador (RDC). RDC will provide $724,000 in funding, augmenting Boeing's unspecified investment made under the company's industrial regional benefits obligations. Mechatronics (the integration of mechanical, electrical and computer engineering) helps to lower costs and shorten design cycles and the RDC investment in equipment will serve the needs of researchers designing autonomous unmanned aerial vehicles and other autonomous platforms....
