McGill Univ has kicked off the largest university fundraising campaign in Canadian history with a $500-million goal over five years. Its aim is to move McGill into the ranks of the world's best universities and enhance its position as a leading research institution. In the three years prior to its public launch, the campaign has already raised $325 million, including $10 million from Hydro-Québec. Hydro-Québec has directed its donation to researcher chairs in wind and hydroelectric power, renewable energy and weather forecasting, scholarships and fellowships in engineering, science and law, and seed funding for research into nanoengineering and sustainable development law.
