Kevin Fitzgibbons has joined the Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) as a visiting executive on a one-year interchange agreement with the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development (DFATD). The appointment will see Fitzgibbons provide policy, strategy and engagement advice to facilitate the transition for the incoming president, as well as advice, policy support and liaison with federal and provincial departments and agencies, and advice on corporate and international relations issues. He has been director of the S&T division at DFATD since 2007. Prior to that, Fitzgibbons was executive director of the Office of the National Science Advisor (NSA). He joined the National Research Council in 1991 and held several positions over nearly two decades.
