Kevin Fitzgibbons has been appointed director of the S&T division at the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, replacing Daniele Ayotte who left last May to become deputy executive director for DFAIT's Americas Strategy. Fitzgibbons comes to DFAIT from the Office of the National Science Advisor (NSA) where he was executive director for more than two years. He is being replaced on an interim basis by Paul Dufour, the NSA's senior advisor for international affairs. Fitzgibbons remains on secondment from the National Research Council (NRC) which he joined in 1991. As an NRC strategic planning and policy analyst, Fitzgibbons participating in several key projects in the areas of technology forecasting, S&T and innovation policy analysis and the development of strategic planning activities.
