Judith Whittick has been appointed chairman of the 17-member board of Precarn Inc , a national consortium for the development of intelligent systems technologies. Whittick has a long track record of business and technology management and is currently president of C-CORE, a St John’s NF-based natural resources engineering firm. She sits on several company and agency boards including the Canadian Space Agency Advisory Council . Whittick is joined on the board by three new members. Don Hewson is president/CEO of Hewson Bridge & Smith Ltd, an Ottawa-based, high-tech branding firm. Edmée Métvier is executive VP integrated risk and resources management at the Business Development of Canada. John McDougall is president/CEO of the Alberta Research Council.
Genome British Columbia has added two new members to its board of directors. Dr Alan Pelman, VP technology, Weyerhaeuser Canada, has gained considerable technology management expertise in the energy and forestry sectors. He was previously president/CEO of BC Hydro subsidiary Powertech Labs, and VP research and technology at MacMillan Bloedel Ltd. He is currently a member of the Advisory Council on S&T and the National Research Council governing council. Dr David Dolphin is VP technology development at QLT Inc and a professor of chemistry and an industrial research professor in photodynamic technologies at the Univ of British Columbia.
